Happy Halloween! In the midst of costume making and party planning and sneaking candy before the neighborhood kids can take it from me – I find myself in a bit of a hockey drought. It’s been five arduous days since I’ve seen the Stars hit the ice, but it might as well have been five years. Thankfully, there’s been no shortage of Stars content, including all the vibes from our boys in Finland.
The Stars have strung together a pretty solid start to the season leading up to the Global Series (I’ve already forgotten about Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen), despite not playing quite at the level we know they’re capable of. David Castillo has a pretty nice writeup for D Magazine that brings home the point – winning ugly is still winning.
Cruise control. That’s the expression that comes to mind when reflecting on the Stars’ early run. A 7-2-0 record sounds like Dallas is firing on all cylinders. It sounds like everyone is on the same page. But even the most optimistic fan would argue otherwise. This Victory Green squad has looked a little disjointed, and not just because of an anemic power play. That’s a better sign of good fortune than you would think.

Catching up with the Stars in Finland!
Check out Roope wearing the kultakypärä (golden helmet) as our top scorer. Pretty cool tradition.
And Esa greeting fans and taking part in the Jokerit game for the first time as a part owner!
Elsewhere in the Central
Just three game in the Central division last night.
- The Winnipeg Jets moved right on from their first loss of the season and took their woes out on the Red Wings. Poor guys….Jets win 6-2 [LINK]
- Utah also broke out of their 4-game skid to the tune of 5 goals against the flames – winning 5-1 [LINK]
- Meanwhile, The Colorado Avalanche are still trying to get something going early in the season, losing to a red hot Tampa team at home 5-2 [LINK]
Around the NHL
In honor of spooky season…
