Dallas Stars Daily Links: Tyler Seguin’s Offseason

Between recovering from both surgery and COVID-19, it’s been quite the abnormal offseason for Seguin. Plus, what to expect from Joe Pavelski this season, NHL trade rumors, and more.

For most players, the offseason is rather uneventful. It’s time away from the daily NHL grind, a chance to recuperate while still practicing and improving upon their skills.

For Tyler Seguin, his offseason consisted of further rehab from his surgery, as well as a bout with COVID-19:

“Just another eye-opener for me, just realizing that this thing is still real and affects so many people... I wasn’t doing anything stupid or anything like that but maybe you have a little bit of ignorance thinking you’re more invincible being double-vaxxed. … It kind of humbled me. I’m happy that I got over it peacefully and feeling more normal now.”

With training camp only a couple weeks away, Dallas Stars players have begun migrating back to Frisco to ramp up hockey activities. Seguin’s working hard to make sure he will be back to 100% for the season opener, but that doesn’t mean it’s all serious business:

“It’s funny, I’ve been mentally trying to find the line of me just being so happy to be out there with the guys but also being focused and detail-oriented,” Seguin said. “Coming in today, goof off with the guys and be a normal athlete again, that’s the biggest thing I missed the most, was being teammates with all these guys.”
