With last night’s loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Dallas Stars are now on a four game losing streak. There’s many reasons the Stars have been struggling, but a big portion is due to their lack of strong starts, which has been a problem plaguing the team for years:

“I think we just need to start on time,” defenseman Mark Pysyk said. “I think our first periods haven’t been where we’ve been wanting them to be. The level of consistency needs to come up.”

“Consistency” has for sure been an issue for Dallas. They began the season 4-0-0, riding a lethal power play along the way, but have since gone 1-3-3 in their last seven. Perhaps the worst part is that nearly all of those losses were within reach, but like last night, the Stars couldn’t make it happen:

“The opportunities to get that early lead were there, but we didn’t capitalize,” coach Rick Bowness said.
