Dallas Stars prospect Jacob Peterson is set to make his NHL debut on Thursday night.
After the Stars made some moves to maximize their salary cap situation to start the year, a number of expected moves were made today to get to the final roster for the first game of the season versus the New York Rangers.
Peterson was recalled along with Joel Kiviranta, while Ty Dellandrea, Oskar Bäck, and Jake Oettinger were loaned to the AHL Texas Stars. Jason Robertson and Blake Comeau are both considered “day-to-day” with upper-body injuries and have both been ruled out of Thursday’s game, paving the way for Peterson’s NHL debut.
Here is what the lines could look like based on what was run in Dallas at practice Tuesday prior to traveling to New York City and considering the moves and injury updates from today:
Jamie Benn — Tyler Seguin — Alexander Radulov
Jacob Peterson — Roope Hintz — Joe Pavelski
Michael Raffl — Radek Faksa — Denis Gurianov
Tanner Kero — Luke Glendening — Joel Kiviranta
Esa Lindell — Miro Heiskanen
Ryan Suter — John Klingberg
Andrej Sekera — Jani Hakanpää
Ben Bishop practiced but remains on LTIR and hasn’t been cleared to play. In advance of his return, you’d likely see a conditioning stint assignment with the Texas Stars, so until that happens or an announcement is made about his future, assume the status quo with Bishop is “practicing but not cleared to play”.
