By far, the crowned jewel of the Dallas Stars’ 2017 Draft Class is Miro Heiskanen, whom they selected with the 3rd overall pick. But while Heiskanen has already started to establish himself among the league’s best, fellow draft picks Jason Robertson and Jake Oettinger may not be too far behind:
“I like to call myself a top forward prospect, Miro is one of the best defensemen in the league already, so that obviously panned out. And then they got a top goalie prospect,” Robertson said... “In the next couple years, I want to be able to have it where people mention how that draft changed the franchise.”
“I think we want to make our mark on the Stars and maybe be remembered as one of the better drafts the Stars have had in a while,” Oettinger added. “It would be cool to have me and (Robertson) both make the team at some point soon and be representing that draft class...”
In case you think it’s all talk, Robertson and Oettinger both attended the annual NHL Rookie Showcase this past weekend, joining other top prospects across the NHL. The weekend also served as a good time for both players to spend some time together:
“We know each other a little bit from two development camps, but that’s it,” Robertson said. “It was nice to get to know him a bit more, and it’ll be nice to get to know him a bit more going forward here.”

I like this Tyler Seguin interview at Biosteel a lot more than the one from last year:
One of these things is not like the others...
Catch up with some of the boys from Finland (plus an honorary Finn at the end ) as they take part in former Stars great, Jere Lehtinen's hockey tournament, and much more in "Helsinki South".#GoStars | @Kia pic.twitter.com/D8akca6QTN— Dallas Stars (@DallasStars) August 27, 2019
Are the Stars’ Stanley Cup contenders? Here’s Mike Heika’s take:

Down Goes Brown is running out of ideas, yet somehow they keep getting better:
In case you thought Jesse Puljujarvi was bluffing:
Jesse Puljujarvi has signed a deal in Finland that includes an out clause if he signs in the NHL before Dec. 1. Now, the Oilers have to decide whether to wait Puljujarvi out or move on before he spends a season overseas.@THNJaredClinton with more:https://t.co/WUj7r4XdT4— The Hockey News (@TheHockeyNews) August 27, 2019
Of course, the Edmonton Oilers could always trade the disruntled youngster, but they might need to lower their asking price:
Ryan Rishaug on TSN now reports the Oilers are looking for a prospect that has the potential to be a top 9 player in the NHL and a 1st RD pick for Jesse Puljujarvi, if it is a 1-for-1 deal, Oilers would like a player that can step in and help now with some term left on his deal.— NHL Prospects Watcher (@Prospects_Watch) August 27, 2019
This is a nice look into the aftermath of the Columbus Blue Jackets’ trade frenzy last season:
Former Stars goaltender Mike McKenna is hanging up the skates after fifteen years. Let’s all wish him a happy retirement!
