Well, last night’s loss to the Vancouver Canucks was disappointing. Even more so since it went to a shootout, which I might have jinxed the Dallas Stars into last Friday. Sorry about that, everyone. Won’t happen again. (Editor: I told you, Tyler. Why does no one ever listen to the editor?)

Man, it was not a good time to be a Central team heading into overtime yesterday:
- Like the Stars, the St. Louis Blues also fell in the shootout, losing 4-3 to the Buffalo Sabres. [Die by the Blade]
- The Minnesota Wild didn’t even make it to the coin flip, losing 3-2 to the New York Islanders in overtime. [Lighthouse Hockey]
- Meanwhile, the Colorado Avalanche did the smart thing and avoided the the extra inning altogether, instead shutting out the New Jersey Devils 3-0. [Mile High Hockey]
Couple that all with an Arizona Coyotes overtime loss on Saturday, and you get this:
Western wildcard update: The NHL gave two points to the Avalanche, who won, and four total points to the four teams ahead of them, who all lost.
