Traverse City Tournament: How To Watch, Who To Watch For In Game 1

Streaming information and a live game-day thread for your viewing pleasure. Live hockey is here!

The Dallas Stars prospect team opens the Traverse City Tournament tonight at 6 PM CST. In years past, the Detroit Red Wings website has streamed games, and could be an option again for those looking to watch the game. Additionally, this year the Stars and broadcast partner Fox Sports Southwest are making the Traverse City Tournament games available on the Fox Sports Go app. It does require a login that uses your cable provider, so be aware of that limitation for those living out of market/those of you that have cut the cord.

In a tournament like this, in which these prospects have never played together really before as a unit, it’ll be important to watch how players do individually in terms of skills and how they read the play.

The game tonight could also offer us a glimpse at the system new head coach Jim Montgomery intends to put in place at the NHL level. After all, the ideal is to have players that have played in the same system at the lower level so that they are familiar with it when they get to the NHL level.

What could that look like? After all the various reports about his systems published this summer, and how his Denver teams looked in years past, I’d say to expect to look for pace. A return to the 2015-2016 Dallas Stars north-south kind of game? I’d be here for that.

Tonight’s lineup courtesy of Sean Shapiro of The Athletic. Unsurprisingly, Roope Hintz, Nick Caamano, and Tony Calderone are the first line for the Stars tonight while Miro Heiskanen will anchor the top pairing. I’ve included jersey numbers for you below in parentheses for ease of watching/reference tonight.
