Sometimes when players are traded, they look at their calendar to figure out when they’ll get a chance to play their new team. But in the case of new Dallas Stars defenseman Connor Carrick, he already knew he’d be seeing the Toronto Maple Leafs again very soon:
I knew right away,” Carrick said... “It was after playing in Chicago, and I am from Chicago, and I knew where we were going with the Leafs, and I am excited to be on the other side of it.”
Carrick joins Roman Polak as two former Maple Leafs who have now found themselves on the Stars blueline. Polak joined Dallas back in July via free agency, while Carrick was traded just days before the regular season. And though he hasn’t been with the team for long, the young defenseman has already impressed with three assists in his first two games:
“I think he’s been really good. I thought in the second game he was better than the first,” Stars coach Jim Montgomery said. “He’s really starting to grasp how we want to play. His biggest tools work well with the way we want to play.”
