Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Riley Tufte Advances To NCAA Frozen Four Semifinals

The CHL playoffs have also begun with three Stars prospects in action

NOTE: This prospect update was written before Sunday evening’s games.

North American Juniors and NCAA


Nick Caamano had his first taste of the OHL playoffs this week as the Flint Firebirds faced off against the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds in the first round.

Caamano has three points as the Firebirds split their first two games in the series.

He had a single assist in the opening game on Thursday, a 5-2 loss, and had a pair of assists as the Firebirds took game two, 6-3.

Chris Martenet played two games in the Ottawa 67’s playoff series against the Mississauga Steelheads.

The 67’s split the first two games of the series with Martenet having a single assist during a 4-0 win on Sunday.


Andrej Vala and the Kamloops Blazers opened their WHL postseason with a pair of losses against the Kelowna Rockets.

Vala had a single point, a goal, during a 3-2 loss on Saturday. Highlights can be seen here.


Rhett Gardner’s NCAA season ended with a double overtime loss to Boston University on Friday.

North Dakota lost 4-3 with Gardner scoring the opening goal of the game. In his second season in the NCAA he finished with three more points than he did the previous year, despite playing three less games.

Riley Tufte and the University of Minnesota Duluth continue to advance through the NCAA postseason.

They beat Ohio State and Boston University in the NCAA West regional semifinal and final respectively.

Riley Tufte had an assist in each of the games, bringing him to 15 points this season.

Minnesota Duluth face Harvard on Thursday in the NCAA Frozen Four semifinal.



Niklas Hansson got his first playoff game of the season this week. He played a total of 4.49 as HV71 swept their first round opponents Farjestad.

Hansson went pointless in the contest.

John Nyberg played three games for Frolunda as they face Skelleftea in the first round. He went pointless in each of the games but averaged 19 minutes of ice time in each contest.

Frolunda are currently down 3-2 in their series with game six taking place today.

Fredrik Karlstrom’s season finished this week as AIK lost the deciding game against Karlskoga.

He went pointless throughout the promotion series.


Roope Hintz play three games this week for HIFK and had a single goal.

He scored during a 4-1 loss to TPS on Wednesday as part of their second round series. HIFK are currently down 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
