John Klingberg was on the ice for the Stars for tying and winning goals by the Blackhawks Saturday. It seems he has a way to go to be the a reliable defenseman that Dallas needs.

"He's a young defenseman that still hasn't got a total grasp on some situations, and we do ask a lot from him," Ruff said Sunday after the team practiced in Euless. "I thought this morning was a really good meeting toward the realization that there are times when you just play defense. We are asking him to be a difference-maker, but inside of that I have to get him to a place where he realizes what manpower we have, where we're at in the game, and how to be smarter." (DMN)

Goalie Antti Niemi has struggled in his last 3 starts being pulled all 3 times. Performances like that has his this dismal stat line 9.17 GAA and a .694 save percentage. Coach Ruff has said he will still use him in games.

“In Antti’s case, it’s something he’ll work through,” Ruff said when asked if he had talked to Niemi. “I don’t believe there’s anything I can say. I think sometimes he, even the other day spent an hour working after practice, I think sometimes you overcook it. For me, he’s just got to go in there and play. There’s nothing that I can say from the structure, he’s going to go in there and he’s going to feel his game, that’s who Antti is and there’s nothing I’m going to say that’s going after the game go Oh God, that’s a good speech I gave Antti. That ain’t going to happen.” (DMN)

Despite the Stars poor season one bright spot has been the play of forward Patrick Eaves. Eaves is tied with Tyler Seguin with 19 goals and leads the team in power play goals with 10. Could this be his last season with the team? (Blackout Dallas)

So far only 2 teams have been unofficially eliminated from the playoffs Colorado and Arizona, That means the remaining 28 teams are already in a playoff spot or within 7 points of one. Dallas is among the next lowest 3 teams and should become sellers at the deadline. (The Score)
