Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Cecconi Gets Trio Of Assists, Caamano Reaches 50 Points

Meanwhile two prospects missed time from their teams as they were playing for their national teams.

NOTE: This update was written before Sunday evening’s games.

North American Juniors and NCAA

OHL

Nicholas Caamano reached the fifty point mark this week. He scored a goal and had an assist to bring himself up to 50 points in 51 games for the Flint Firebirds.

He got both points during the Firebirds 5-3 win against Sault Ste Marie on Saturday. He assisted on the game winning goal before adding a shorthanded and empty net goal to clinch the win.

Chris Martenet got his 9th point of the season this week with an assist during Ottawa’s 3-1 loss to Peterborough on Wednesday.

WHL

Ondrej Vala got his 20th point of the year for the Kamloops Blazers.

He was one of six different Blazers to get a goal during a 6-0 rout of the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday. He was named third star of the game. Highlights of the win can be found here.

Vala scored once for the Blazers on Friday during a 2-1SO loss to the Victoria Royals where he was named the second star of the game. Highlights can be found here.

NCAA

Mike Prapavessis played one game for the RPI Engineers, a 2-1 loss to Dartmouth, and finished pointless in the game.

Joseph Cecconi had an excellent week in the NCAA, he had a trio of assists for Michigan as they played their interstate rivals Michigan State.

He had a pair of assists in a 4-4 tie on Friday and had an assist during a 4-1 loss on Saturday.

Cecconi now has five points this season, all assists, for Michigan.

Neither Brett Gardner or Riley Tufte were in action this week as both their teams had no games scheduled.

Colton Point made 20 saves as he back stopped Colgate to a 2-1 win against Brown on Saturday.

Europe

Sweden

Niklas Hansson didn’t play in the SHL this week as he was still suffering from a vomiting bug.

John Nyberg was in action in the Champions Hockey League as Frolunda clinched the CHL title. He went pointless in the overtime win and was not involved in any SHL games this week.

Fredrik Karlstrom played one game for AIK and finished pointless. He has 20 points in 37 games this season for AIK and is fourth on his team in scoring.

Jakob Stenqvist did not play for MODO this week as he was on international duty for the Sweden U19.

Finland

Another prospect on international duty was Roope Hintz who was playing for Finland in the hockey tour.

Aleksi Makela remains out injured.

Slovakia

Matej Paulovic scored his 11th goal of the season this week for HC Nove Zamky.
