Dallas Stars Prospect Update: NCAA Prospects Shine, Martenet Traded Within OHL

NOTE: This prospect update was written before Sunday evening’s games.

North American Juniors and NCAA

OHL

Nick Caamano played three games for the Flint Firebirds this week and finished with a pair of assists.

He got both of the assists as the Firebirds routed the Saginaw Spirit 11-2 on Tuesday. Highlights of the game can be found here.

Chris Martenet was traded within the OHL to the Ottawa 67s last Monday. He played all three games this week with his new team and finished with a single point.

He had an assist on Saturday during the 67s 5-2 win against the Hamilton Bulldogs.

WHL

Ondrej Vala played two games with the Kamloops Blazers and finished pointless through both games.

NCAA

Mike Prapavessis finished with three assists this week for the RPI Engineers. He got an assist as they shut out Harvard 4-0 and assisted on both of RPI’s goals in a 4-2 loss to Dartmouth on Saturday.

Prapavessis now has 11 points in 22 games.

Joseph Cecconi had a single assist for Michigan as they played a pair of games against Minnesota.

He got the assist as they lost 4-2 on Saturday. He was playing on the top defensive pairing for Michigan during the game.

Cecconi has two points in 18 games for Michigan.

Rhett Gardner had a pair of points for the University of North Dakota. He had a goal and an assist in back to back games against Miami.

On Friday he had a single assist as North Dakota lost 6-3 and scored a short handed goal to help secure a 3-1 win on Saturday.

Riley Tufte got the first goal of his NCAA career on Friday as Minnesota Duluth lost 2-1 to St. Cloud State. He was on the top line for Minnesota Duluth during the game.

It was his second point this season.

Colton Point was in action for Colgate this weekend as they lost 4-1 to Quinnipiac. He save 45 of 49 shots he faced.

Europe

Sweden

Niklas Hansson had an assist this week for HV71, it was his first point since November 29. He continues to average low ice time, barely registering more than 11 minutes in two games this week.

John Nyberg had a goal for Frolunda this week in the only game he played. He scored Frolunda’s only goal in a 4-1 loss to Vaxjo.

Fredrik Karlstrom played two games for AIK this week in the Allsvenska and finished pointless in both games.

Jakob Stenqvist got his second assist of the season this week for MODO. He assisted on the game winning goal against HC Vita Hasten. He has four points in 27 games in the Allsvenska this year.

Finland

Through three games in the Liiga, Roope Hintz finished with a pair of assists. He got an assist as HIFK beat Karpat 4-1 on Wednesday.

He was named second star of the game for his single assist.

He assisted on a powerplay goal in HIFK’s 4-3 loss to JYP on Friday.

He has 14 points in 26 games this season.

Slovakia

Matej Paulovic had a single assist this week for HC Nove Zamky.
