You know what they say—when life gives you a foot injury, make the most of it by trying to gain a new perspective on the game while watching from the press box.

Or, at least, that’s what Stars captain Jamie Benn has been doing while sidelined with a foot injury.

But he said stepping back does create a completely different viewfinder. Now, instead of battling through the vision lines on the ice at breakneck speed, he is seeing how plays can go right and how plays can go wrong.

"I watch a lot of positioning and how you can get in places to score," Benn said. "But I also see more that you leave yourself exposed when you're trying to score. You see that the puck can go the other way in a hurry, and that's something I think can help us be better defensively, too."
