Last year, the Dallas Stars announced their first annual Party in the Park, slotted for an early July Friday night. As close as the party came to the NHL's big summer work timeline -- draft, free agency, trades -- the Stars managed to make a little history in addition to hosting the event for the first time.
They broke their own news of a team trade. Live streamed on Periscope. (Pretty certain that was the first time news had been broken like that in the NHL.)
This year, the Stars pushed the PM Standley Motorcars Party in the Park back a few weeks. It will be hosted this Friday, July 15th starting at 6 PM at Klyde Warren Park. The event will include the unveiling of the regular season Western Conference and Central Division championship banners, as well as speakers from the Stars organization (including Captain Jamie Benn).
With Jamie Benn's contract extension window opening on July 1 as well as this tweet from ESPN's John Buccigross, will the Stars make headlines once again at their annual summer event?
I heard that today. "In 2 weeks." But I'm not sure how it will fit together yet. We'll see. Tampa has lot to do. https://t.co/NSmXufh6fv— Bucci Mane (@Buccigross) July 3, 2016
