Everyone has ideas about how the Dallas Stars can improve their playoffs performance next year. Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News used part of his Monday chat to discuss how experience will play a role in doing that.
It's always a balance. I think they are set up to be good for years to come, and I think the experience in the playoffs will make everyone better. [Stephen] Johns, [Radek] Faksa, [Mattias] Janmark, they all learned.
But guys like Jamie Benn and [John] Klingberg also learned, because they had to deal with heavy attention from the other team.
He also used the example of #MurderDeathKill Division rivals the Chicago Blackhawks to point to the Stars' potential offseason plan:
You have to tweak your lineup every year. The Stars did it back in the glory days. The Blackhawks have had to do it through three Stanley Cups. But I think the key is getting good young players and letting them develop in a winning system.
I think the Stars should be able to do that going forward.
