The Dallas Stars have continued to build a stable of young defenseman in the minor leagues by signing prospect Niklas Hansson to a three-year entry-level contract that begins in 2016-17. The Swedish prospect has also signed an amateur tryout agreement (ATO) to play with the Texas Stars for the remainder of the 2015-16 season.
Hansson was a third-round pick of the Stars in 2013, the first draft under general manager Jim Nill. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound defenseman had 22 points (7-15-22) in 44 games with HV71 of the Swedish Hockey League this season as a 21 year old. He finished in the top 15 for all SHL defensemen in goals and points.
According to the official release, he will report to the Texas Stars next week.
