2015 NHL Awards: Jamie Benn Show Starts Now

New, comments

The NHL Awards are happening tonight and we're all gathered around to watch the festivities.

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The NHL Awards are cringe-worthy every year. This year we actually have a reason to watch though. Jamie Benn has already won the Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer. He's up for the Ted Lindsay Award, the MVP as voted on by the players. He should be named to a post-season All Star team too. The Jamie Benn Show should make this bearable.

The NHL Network pregame (pre-Awards?, pre-show?) begins right now. The actual awards show begins at six on NBC Sports Network live from hockey hotbed Las Vegas. The list of stars in attendance will be...something:

Television, movies, music and sports stars Kix Brooks, Colin Hanks, Matthew Modine, Russell Peters, Amy Purdy, Retta, Kevin Smith and Tiësto also will present.

Apparently the NHL is going full on new media for parts of the event too. If you're into Periscope they have you covered.

On show day, June 24, NHL Social will engage with finalists, presenters, broadcast talent and special guests during red carpet arrivals via Periscope live stream @NHL.

We'll be here all night talking about the festivities. If you care to join us jump into the thread to discuss the events of the night.
