Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Prospects' Seasons End With Conclusion Of The Memorial Cup Tournament

New, comments

This will be the last prospect update of the season with the Memorial Cup Tournament having concluded. It has been a very mixed year for Dallas Stars prospects. Some have taken some major steps, one that springs to mind is Esa Lindell. There are others who have had bad or unlucky years.

For example we haven't been able to see much from Alex Peters after an injury cut his season short. He was drafted with a lot of hope last summer and we haven't been able to see how he would develop in his post draft year.

There will be more over the summer about what to expect and watch from Dallas Stars prospects for next season. Especially with the influx of prospects from the 2015 NHL Draft.

Memorial Cup

Last Monday the Rimouski Oceanic faced the Kelowna Rockets, losing the game 7-3. Philippe Desrosiers didn't start this game but he came in as relief around the 30 minute mark. He allowed two goals on 14 shots he faced in just under half an hour. The damage had already been done with the starter having let in five on 22 shots.

On Wednesday the Oceanic faced the hosts, the Quebec Remparts in an effort to force a tiebreaker game for a semi final spot. Desrosiers started this game and he was excellent, earning a shutout and third star honours. He saved all 27 of the shots he faced and generally was very good in a 4-0 win.

The Oceanic went to the tiebreaker on Thursday, again against the Remparts, but this game went very differently from the previous evening's game. Quebec won 5-2 with Desrosiers in net for most of the game. He faced 31 shots and let in five goals as the Rimouski Oceanic finished their season.

Philippe Desrosiers, who won the Vaughn Goaltender of the Year award as the top goaltender in the Canadian Hockey League, will turn pro for next season and will play either in the ECHL or in the AHL. Where will depend on any goalie signings that happen over the summer and what the organisational depth chart ends up looking like.
