After yesterday's action packed opening the second game of the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship was a quieter affair.

Belarus 2 - Slovakia 4

The day opened up with Belarus facing Slovakia. Slovakia were playing their first game of the tournament against a team that were shutout by the hosts Finland last night.

The Belarusians had got the lead early in the second period, leading for ten minutes after a powerplay goal put them ahead.

However a three goal rally from Slovakia put them ahead and got them the win. Goals from Filip Lestan, Lukas Hrusik and Juraj Siska gave the Slovaks the lead.

Juraj Siska and Matus Sukel both finished with two points for the Slovaks. LA Kings prospect Erik Cernak was held pointless in the game.

Denmark 2 - Switzerland 1

The second game of the day saw the Danes managed to get their first win in their first game of the tournament. The Swiss got an early go ahead goal eight minutes into the first period from Noah Rod.

However the Danes would respond with a pair of goals in the third period from Soeren Nielson and Mathias From.

The Swiss have had a poor start to the World Junior Championship and this is the second loss they've had. This was the first game where they were without Chris Egli who was suspended for a check to the head against Sweden.

However it was the Danes who were on the receiving end of a major penalty after their assistance captain, Mathias Larsen, was given a five minute major and a game misconduct for a hit to the head.
