The last two picks the Dallas Stars had this year netted them a Swedish defenseman and a Canadian defenseman.

Using their second sixth round pick in the draft, the Dallas Stars continued their defensive run they seemed to be on. They selected a 6' 2", 180 left handed defenseman in John Nyberg from Frolunda in Sweden. He played in 19 games with Frolunda Junior this year, registering 1 G, 3 A, 4 P in total.

He's listed as a left winger on his NHL.com prospect profile, though Sweden's official website has him listed as a defenseman. Mark Stepeneski of Stars Inside Edge confirmed he is, indeed, a defenseman as his Swedish team listed him.

In the seventh round, with the last pick they owned in the draft this year, Dallas selected Patrick Sanvido out of the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL. Sanvido was on a team with first round draft pick Josh Ho-Sang this year.

In 64 games played, the left handed defenseman registered 1 G, 7 A, 8 P in total with Windsor this season. He also collected 82 PIMs and was a -21.

One thing Sanvido possesses is size - he's listed at a whopping 6' 6", 220. He started playing defense late in his hockey development, at the age of 12. From an article written on him in the Windsor Star, his coaching staff had this to say about his ability:

He doesn't care about points. He moves the puck up to his forwards. You can't find guys like that nowadays.

He's a throwback player.
