Prospect Update: Gemel Smith Has Four Points In Two Playoff Games With The London Knights

How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.

OHL

Jason Dickinson would play two playoff games for the Storm, both wins, and have a single goal. He scored in a 5-2 win on Friday and went pointless in a 3-0 win on Saturday.

Gemel Smith started off his playoff run with the London Knights well with four points in two games. He had a goal and two assists in a 6-1 win over the Windsor Spitfires on Friday and was named first star of the game. He would have an assist in their 6-3 win on Saturday where he was also given a fighting instigator major.

Nick Paul and North Bay have split their first two games in their series against the Niagara IceDogs. He would go pointless in their 4-0 win on Friday but would have a goal in their 3-2 loss on Sunday. He was named second star of the game.

Cody Payne had a single goal through Saginaw's first two games against the Erie Otters. He went pointless in their 4-3 loss on Friday and had a goal in their 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday. He scored the goal that sent the game to overtime.

The Sudbury Wolves and Radek Faksa are facing an uphill task after dropping their first two games against the Barrie Colts. Faksa had an assist in each game, a 3-2 loss on Thursday, and a 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday. Faksa assisted on the Wolves tying goal.

WHL

Mike Winther played two playoff games this week for the Calgary Hitmen. They won both of their games against the Kootenay Ice. He had a single assist in a 5-4 shootout win on Friday and followed it up with a one goal, two assist game in a 6-3 win on Saturday. He was named second star of the game for his three point effort.

Dmitry Sinitsyn was involved in two playoff games for the Regina Pats against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Sinitsyn had a goal in each of the two contests though the Pats would lose both of their games. First 4-3 in overtime on Friday and 6-3 on Saturday.

Branden Troock played in two playoff games for the Thunderbirds who won both of their contests over the Everett Silvertips. Troock had an assist in a 2-1 win on Saturday and followed it up with a goal in a 3-1 win on Sunday. He would earn second star honours for his performance on Sunday.

QMJHL

Troy Vance played in two playoff games and had two assists. Charlottetown are facing off against a very strong Halifax side and lost both of their two games. Vance had two assists in a 6-3 loss on Friday and went pointless in a 7-1 loss on Saturday.

Philippe Desrosiers started both of the Oceanic's games and helped lead them to a 2-0 lead over Chicoutimi. He has a less impressive 0.887 save percentage so far in the playoffs however.

NCAA

Both Devin Shore and Alex Guptil finished their seasons with their NCAA teams.

Sweden

Rogle are impressing in the round robin tournament to earn promotion to the SHL. Through four games they are second, of six, and hold the last promotion spot. Both Hansson and Molin have three points through those games. Hansson has a goal and two assists and Molin has two goals and an assist.

Though Bystrom was on the bench for two Farjestad games this week he did not touch the ice in either of them.

John Klingberg played in four games for Frolunda this week and played on average over 20 minutes per game. He had three assists through those games. Frolunda lead the series 3-1.
