Kari Lehtonen and the Dallas Stars haven't had a great start to their season, but are looking strong tonight against the Los Angeles Kings, leading 2-0 and maintaining almost complete control of the game.
Midway through the second period, the Kings finally were able to get some sustained pressure and after a flurry of chance in front, Jarret Stoll thought he had a wide-open net to hit to cut the score in half. Lehtonen had a different plan in mind.
Easily a save you'll be seeing at the top of highlight reels for quite some time to come, and it certainly goes down as perhaps Lehtonen's best save of his career.
Sometimes a goalie will lunge and get lucky that a puck pretty much gets shot right into their glove -- not so in this case, as Lehtonen tracks the shot and dives across to snag the puck out of the air.
