The Dallas Stars open the 2014-15 season on Thursday night as the team plays host to their Central Division rivals the Chicago Blackhawks. Dallas has won three of its last four home openers, having earned at least one point in 14 of their last 15 (11-1-3). Since moving to Texas, the Stars are 11-3-6 in the first game of the season and are 14-3-3 in their Dallas debut. The Stars are 2-0-0 when opening the season against Chicago as the club posted a 2-1 win in Dallas on Oct. 7, 2012 and a 4-2 win on Oct. 5, 1991 in Minnesota.
THE LAND BEFORE TIME
The Stars finished the 2014 preseason with a record of 4-2-0 in six preseason contests, marking the second straight year the team has finished with the most preseason wins in the Central Division. Forward TYLER SEGUIN paced Dallas with three goals and seven points (3-4=7) in four preseason contests. His seven points was also tied for second in the NHL during preseason play. Newcomer ALES HEMSKY shared the team-lead with SEGUIN, posting four assists in the preseason. Defenseman KEVIN CONNAUTON posted four points (2-2=4) in four tilts to lead all Stars blueliners in the preseason.
