2014 Winter Olympics: Gold Medal Game Watching Thread

It wasn’t that long ago when the Dallas Stars Jamie Benn Canada beat the USA for the chance to compete for gold. As a Stars fan, that USA vs Canada matchup was a great game against two powerhouse teams. If USA had to lose, I was happy to see Stars captain Jamie Benn be the one to do it. I’m not sure if that’s how others feel (and yes I’m still very sad USA lost at all…) but we get to watch Canada take on Sweden for the gold now.

In this game, you’ve got Canada whom everyone has touted could field two competitive teams in this tournament. On the other side, you have Sweden whom everyone kind of underrates but who goes about their business in an efficient manner. Canada’s confidence has to be pretty high after beating their southern neighbors, and Carey Price seems to be on his game. Henrik Lundqvist has been phenomenal in net for Sweden, so this could be another goalie dual today.

For me, I’ll root for Canada to win so that Jamie Benn comes home with gold. That should give him a plethora of confidence for the rest of the NHL season, and I want him to lead these Dallas Stars we love so much to the promise land of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
