Its been a bit of a mixed bag this week for Dallas Stars prospects in action in Europe this past week.
First up is Emil Molin playing for Brynas of the SHL. He has steadily been dropping in the Brynas lineup, playing on their fourth line during their 4-3 win on Friday. During that game, despite playing on the fourth line, he scored a goal. However he wasn't in the lineup on Saturday and, after scanning Swedish media and game reports, it appears he was a healthy scratch rather than suffering an injury. It could be that he was making room for younger players to get some experience or it could be that his play wasn't up to scratch.
Ludwig Bystrom has also slipped down Farjestad's lineup. He went pointless in their two games this week. He started the first game against Adler Mannheim on the second defensive unit but was on the third pairing for their game against ERC Ingolstadt. He has yet to register his first point of the tournament.
Henri Kiviaho got his first start of the European Trophy Tournament for KalPa on the second night of a back to back. He was in goal for their 4-2 win over HC Slovan Bratislava. Highlights can be found below, he is the goaltender wearing number 32. It isn't exactly the best portrayal of Kiviaho as they only showed the goals that he let in rather than any of his saves. It does however, for those who haven't seen him play, show the type of goaltender he is and how he watches the ice.
John Klingberg however has been the best performing Stars prospect at this tournament. In the two games that he played this week he got a goal and an assist and is the top scoring defenseman for Frolunda. He was part of the shootout against Adler Mannhein on Sunday, though he missed his shot, and earned third star honours for the game.
He is the fourth top scorer for Frolunda with 5 points in four games (2 goals, 3 assists). He played both of these last two games on Frolunda's second defensive pairing. If he can remain healthy during the regular season it would be good to see him if he remains productive.
