Dallas Stars Trade Tomas Vincour To Colorado Avalanche For Cameron Gaunce

The Stars kept dealing late Tuesday afternoon as they sent the lower-line forward to the Avalanche for a gritty defensive prospect.

The Dallas Stars continued their complete dismantling of the 2013 roster Tuesday afternoon, sending Tomas Vincour to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Cameron Gaunce.

Darren Dreger broke the news first on Twitter:

Gaunce, 23, is a 6-foot-1, 203-pound left shot defensemen who has spent the season playing for the Lake Erie Monsters of the AHL. He has one goal and 11 points in 61 games and is a minus-8, though he had six goals and 27 points with a +17 rating last season.

Hockey's Future says Gaunce "has a well-rounded game that includes a gritty, physical side. He has a strong slapshot, makes smart decisions with the puck and has a great work ethic."

Vincour had seven goals and 15 points in 86 career NHL games in Dallas and spent most of this season floating between the AHL's Texas Stars and the big club.

The addition of Gaunce means the Texas Stars have approximately 47 defensemen (or 11) on their current roster. Patrick Nemeth has been out for an extended period of time with an injury and is not expected back soon as far as I know, but that's still quite a logjam. Could that mean more moves are on the way? With the way things have gone today, it's a distinct possibility.
