This week has seen several Stars prospects finish their respective playoff runs in the first round. Other prospects have had more success, in particular Radek Faksa and the Stars European prospects.

In the OHL Owen Sound Attack's secured their second round spot on Sunday night in a 4-3 win to win the series 4-2. He turned on the heat in the fifth game in the series getting 2 goals and 2 assists in a 5-3 win over Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Gemel Smith has been one of Owen Sounds more impressive players so far.

Radek Faksa has also impressed with four points in the past three games for the Kitchener Rangers as they won their first round match up against the Guelph Storm 4 games to one. He is currently on a point per game pace in the playoffs.

Brett Ritchie's OHL career ended earlier this week in a 4-1 series loss to the Oshawa Generals. He played in four of hte 5 playoff games and had four points, 1 goal and three assist. Its almost certain that Brett Ritchie will be joining the Texas Stars within the next few days.

Both Stars prospects involved in the WHL playoffs, Brandan Troock is out injured and has not played, were swept in the first round.

Matej Stransky's Saskatoon Blades were swept by the Medicine Hat Tigers, in the 2012 playoffs they were also swept by the Tigers in the first round. Matej Stransky will not be turning pro immediately as the Saskatoon Blades, despite their first round exit, are hosting the Memorial Cup Tournament. Their early exit means they have a long time to wait. Stransky was held pointless through those four games.

Mike Winther's Prince Albert Raider's were also swept in the first round by the Red Deer Rebels. Mike Winther had a single goal through the series.

The Prince Edward Island Rocket are down 3-2 in their series. Troy Vance has had two assist so far in their 5 playoff games. Maxime Lagace has not played since coming in relief last week.

John Klingberg's Skelleftea have played two games in their second round matchup. Both games have gone to overtime with Skelleftea losing the first and winning the second. In their second game of the series John Klingberg had a goal and an assist. The goal was the game winning goal.

Jyrki Jokipakka's Ilves are up 3-1 in their relegation series. Jokipakka has averaged 25 minutes per game through three games this week but is pointless with a -2 rating. When the series is over its likely the Jokipakka will join the Texas Stars.

Ludwig Bystrom's Modo J20 currently leads Skelleftea J20 in the contest to reach the semi finals. He has had a point per game average so far through six games.
