Poll: Which Dallas Stars Player Has the Best St. Patrick's Day Nickname?

The Stars have brought back the popular warm up jersey and Irish nickname celebration for its second consecutive season.

They're back - just like last season, the Dallas Stars will be wearing green jerseys with "Irish" nicknames for Saturday's warmup.
They're back - just like last season, the Dallas Stars will be wearing green jerseys with "Irish" nicknames for Saturday's warmup.

The Dallas Stars St. Patrick's Day warmup jerseys, and nicknames, are back.

The Stars debuted a promotion last year where the players wore green jerseys with plausibly Irish nicknames on the back of them at the game before St. Patrick's Day. That was such a hit, it's returned this season.

Insert your own "Luck O'the Irish" joke here.

The players will be wearing the special jerseys during warmups for tonight's game against the Chicago Blackhawks. The jerseys will be auctioned off either at the game (head for section 113) or online.

Last year's promotion raised over $16,000 for the Dallas Stars Foundation, which facilitates the auctions. The Foundation, which will celebrate its 15th anniversary this year, gives grants to multiple children's charities and also funds scholarship programs. They also help facilitate awesome things like this.

Going by the pictures on the Dallas Stars Foundation Facebook page, the nicknames this year are as follows:

3 O’Robi (Stephane Robidas)

4 McFlow (Brenden Dillon)

6 O’Dales (Trevor Daley

10 O’Captain (Brenden Morrow)

11 O'Roy (Derek Roy)

13 Leprechaun (Ray Whitney)

14 O'Shutsy (Jamie Benn)

18 McLovin (Reilly Smith)

20 McSherminator (Cody Eakin)

21 McLoui (Loui Eriksson)

24 Bobby Knight (Eric Nystrom)

27 O'Romeo (Aaron Rome)

31 O'Bacher (Richard Bachman)

32 O'Gaulskeeper (Kari Lehtonen)

33 McGruber (Alex Goligoski)

36 McPhilly (Philip Larsen)

38 McKitty (Vernon Fiddler)

40 O'Garby (Ryan Garbutt)

43 O'Riggy (Jamie Oleksiak)

58 O'Darth (Jordie Benn)

60 MacRosie (Antoine Roussel)

68 McJagger (Jaromir Jagr)

72 O'Cole (Erik Cole)

81 McVinny (Tomas Vincour)

The Stars broadcast crew also gets to join the fun this year with McRalphie wearing No. 61 and O'Razorboy with No. 29.

If you need a refresher, last year's nicknames (and poll results) are here.

Most of the players came up with, or were given, new nicknames this time around. Once again, Nystrom's is a standout, though I'm not quite sure what it has to do with St. Patrick's Day. Newcomers Dillon, Whitney and Jagr also have solid nicknames. And don't even get me started on Reilly Smith and Cody Eakin.

So who is your favorite in this year's bunch, and whose would you have changed (within the taste limits of a family-friendly blog) if given the chance?
