Defending Big D Group Night: The Dallas Stars Against The Winnipeg Jets

We have about 165 that are officially going with the DBD group, as well as many other season ticket holders that will be there already. Make sure you don't miss out.

As many of you know, we have organized a couple of different group events for this season. While everyone will continue to count down the days until Mike Modano night, the first of our two official group games has come at last.

And it all seemed so far away when we first started planning these in the middle of the summer.

The last time I counted, we had about 165 tickets for our group. This does not include the many readers that are already season ticket holders and will be spread out throughout the rest of the arena. For those of you who purchased tickets through DBD, you should either have received yours already, or designated for them to be left at will call to pick up when you arrive. If you have not received your tickets, and thought that they were being mailed to you, please contact me immediately at dbdgroupparty@gmail.com. We'll get it sorted out.

Even if you are not a part of the DBD group, please feel free to join in the festivities, as there will be plenty throughout the day. There are some great deals on tickets that you can find here, if you don't have yours yet. As for the day's events, here's what we have so far:

Pregame Festivities:

Since this is a Saturday game, the Stars will have their "Party on the Plaza." It is an afternoon of games, entertainment, and food and drinks. Bowling For Soup will be playing at 3:45, and Jim Nill will be speaking at 4:45. I highly recommend you get there in time to enjoy both. Here's all of the official details about it, in case you had any questions. Some of the DBD crew will be meandering about during that time. I believe that a couple will be in their black polos that have the (old green) DBD crest on them (though if you see a short girl in a Tyler Seguin jersey, that's likely to be Taylor.) If you can track one of them down, make sure you say hi!

Gametime:

The group will be in sections 121 & 122 during the game. Unlike last year, when we went to the final game of the season, we should have much more to cheer for. I expect a loud and rowdy bunch. If you need liquid courage to start cheering, you have plenty of time to consume what you need before the game begins. During the intermissions, Brad, Erin, Taylor and I from the DBD staff will try to hang out on the concourse between these two sections. Again, feel free to say hello if you like. Or you can give us a piece of your mind, depending on how the game is going.

Postgame:

There's not really anything planned after the game, but the hope is that we will all be celebrating a victory. It has been a long time since I've been able to attend a "normal" Saturday night game, so I'm not sure if there will be any festivities on the plaza afterwards, but I do know that there are plenty of places nearby to continue the party. Again, it's entirely up to you.

We were absolutely blown away by the response that we had for these group games, and can't thank all of you enough for participating. When we first started organizing this, we thought we might get about 60-100 who wanted to commit. Instead, I received over 200 responses -- in a single night. I wish we had been able to put that large of a group together, but it just wasn't possible this time around. Maybe next year.

The rest of the staff and I look forward to seeing all of you there! Again, if you have any questions or concerns before the game, you can email me at the address above. Or, if you can fit it into 140 characters or less, you can contact any of us on Twitter: Brad (@DefendingBigD), Erin (@ErinB_DBD), Taylor (@taylordbaird) and me (@Tsudbury).

See you guys tomorrow!
