It's been a particularly impressive week for the Dallas Stars' many OHL prospects and several of those prospects in the WHL who did not play last week have played this week. Here's the breakdown by league:
OHL
Remi Elie was traded from the London Knights to the Belleville Bulls and immediately made an impact on their top line. In three games he finished with five points (two goals and three assists). He moves from one organisation with great depth to one where he can get minutes in the top six.
Radek Faksa had a forgettable week for Kitchener as he finished the week with no points and a -3 rating.
Nick Paul continues to put in goals for the North Bay Battalion as he adds another one on to his total. He finished the week with a +1 rating over two games.
Jason Dickinson had another impressive week with two goals and two assists in three games for the Guelph Storm. All of those points, apart from a single assist, came during their 6-5 loss to the Belleville Bulls. He earned the second star of the game while fellow Stars prospects (playing for the Bulls) Remi Elie was the third star.
Matej Paulovic played two games for the Petes and got another assist. He still isn't showing the offensive flash that was so evident during the OHL pre season.
Gemel Smith had a single assist over two games for Owen Sound. He finished the week an even +/- rating. He no longer holds the OHL scoring lead.
Cody Payne went pointless again for Saginaw over two games and finished with a -2 rating. He's cooled off since his uber hot start to the season.
WHL
It has been a better week in the WHL for Stars prospects. Branden Troock returned from injury and Cole Ully rejoined the Blazers following his two game suspension.
In Troock's two games for the Thunderbirds he finished with a lone assist. He got that during their match against the Kelowana Rockets.
Ully scored four points in total over the past three games for the Blazers. He got a goal and three assists; despite his performance, the Blazers lost every game they played this week.
Dmitry Sinitsyn registered his first WHL fight against the Moose Jaw Warriors and finished his two games of the week with a lone assist.
Mike Winther is still out with a lower body injury and has not played for the Prince Albert Raiders.
QMJHL
Troy Vance played two games for Charlottetown this week, going pointless and finishing with a +2 rating. He is getting regular top pairing minutes for Charlottetown which should be beneficial to his development.
Maxime Lagace only played in a single game for Cape Breton where he helped backstop them to an OT win. He finished that game with a 0.778 SV% after letting in four goals on 18 shots.
Philippe Desrosiers also played a single game, another one that went to OT, and had a 0.875 SV% after letting in four goals on 32 shots.
Sweden
Emil Molin appears to have settled into a fourth line role for Brynas. He played in all three of their games and played between 11-12 minutes per game. He went pointless but was an even +/-.
John Klingberg had a single goal over three games for Frolunda. Apart from the single goal it has been a forgettable week for Klingberg. He is still playing over 22 minutes per game, though.
Ludwig Bystrom had a single assist over three games and has been playing about 16 minutes per game for Farjestad. He isn't doing too badly and it's good to see him holding on to that second defensive pairing spot.
Niklas Hansson was assigned to Rogle J20 from Rogle following the return from injury of one of their defensemen. In three games he had a goal and a +3 rating. It's possible that playing in the J20 will help him get lots of ice time and develop more effectively.
Finland
Henri Kiviaho has still not played a game and remains the backup goaltender for KalPa.
As far as I'm aware Aleksi Makela has yet to return from injury. Esa Lindell has not had his stats in Mestis updated after he finished his stint with Jokerit.
