The Dallas Stars continued to bring their highly-touted college prospects into the fold Monday as they signed right wing Alex Chiasson to a three-year entry level contract.
Chiasson, who was assigned to the AHL's Texas Stars, was drafted in the second round (38th overall) by the Stars in the 2009 entry draft. He spent the past three seasons playing for Boston University, where he led the Terriers in scoring last season with 15 goals and 29 assists in 37 games.
The Terriers were eliminated from the NCAA Tournament by the University of Minnesota on Saturday.
The 6-foot-3, 202-pound forward joins Austin Smith and Reilly Smith as the Stars recent signees from the college ranks. Here's what Joe Nieuwendyk had to say about him in the team's press release.
"We’re excited to have Alex join the Texas Stars for the remainder of their season," said Stars General Manager Joe Nieuwendyk. "He has had an impressive college career and we look forward to watching him continue to develop as a professional in our system."
