Video: Dallas Stars Honor The Life Of Karlis Skrastins

The Dallas Stars got their big 4-1 win over the Calgary Flames today started on a somber note with a special video tribute to former defenseman Karlis Skrastins, and a presentation/ceremonial puck drop including his wife and three daughters.

"That was hard, but it was also very nice," said Kari Lehtonen of the ceremony after the game. "Nice to see his family. It was pretty emotional. It was tough to start playing right away but the guys came out flying and got two goals and that was really nice."

Not a dry eye in the house, no doubt. The Stars announced they've set up a trust for the family, including generous donations from the players, matched by Stars' owner Tom Gaglardi.

If you want to see pictures from the ceremony and the rest of the game, Shannon Byrne has got you covered right here.
