If you haven't heard by now, the Dallas Stars will be wearing special "St. Patrick's Day" themed jerseys during warmups before tonight's game. The green practice jerseys are styled with Gaelic lettering and an Irish nickname for each player. According to the Dallas Stars website, each of the player's Irish nicknames are:
O’Robi (Stephane Robidas)
O’Daley (Trevor Daley)
O’Morrow (Brenden Morrow)
McDowell (Jake Dowell)
McChubbs (Jamie Benn)
O'Legend (Adam Burish)
FitzPetie (Tobey Petersen)
O’Devo (Radek Dvorak)
O’Loui (Loui Eriksson)
O’Wandy (Tom Wandell)
Guinness (Eric Nystrom)
O’Pardy (Adam Pardy)
McCrush’em (Mark Fistric)
O’Daddy (Steve Ott)
McBachs (Richard Bachman)
O’Lehts (Kari Lehtonen)
O’Goose (Alex Goligoski)
MacLarsen (Philip Larsen)
McFiddler (Vernon Fiddler)
O’Garby (Ryan Garbutt)
O’Hammer (Sheldon Souray)
McJordie (Jordie Benn)
McRibs (Mike Ribeiro)
O’Rydes (Michael Ryder)
McCour (Tomas Vincour)
You can view pictures of all of the jerseys on the Dallas Stars Foundation Facebook page and also bid on these one-of-a-kind jerseys here. All proceeds benefit the Dallas Stars Foundation and their charitable initiatives.
Some of the names that the guys came up with are pretty funny - props to Nystrom who probably picked the most Irish thing most people can think of in Guinness to go on the back of his jersey. Ribeiro's name brings to mind the McRib sandwich from McDonald's (maybe that's just me?) My favorite might be Fistric's "McCrush'em" - and I hope he lives up to that moniker tonight against the Chicago Blackhawks.
So for a bit of Friday afternoon fun, vote below on your favorite nickname. If you have a better nickname for someone than what's listed, tell us in the comments (please remember to keep it safe for work, though, ok?)
