With Sheldon Souray banged up, the Dallas Stars had just six healthy defensemen for Saturday's game against the Anaheim Ducks.
And while Souray is a definite maybe for Wednesday's game against the Winnipeg Jets, the Dallas Stars have apparently made an insurance move to make sure they won't be faced with a defenseman shortage.
Jordie Benn (@dartheighter on Twitter) posted this afternoon that he was headed to meet up with his younger brother and the rest of the Stars in Minneapolis for tomorrow's game against the Wild.

The team hasn't issued an official release yet [update: press release out and added after the jump], but the move would make sense, especially if Mark Fistric is still battling a sore hand that kept him out of most of the third period against the San Jose Sharks. The Stars no longer have the 23-man roster limit since the trade deadline has passed, but they are limited to four callups from the AHL between now and the playoffs. To my knowledge, this is the first of those callups.
Jordie Benn played in two games for the Dallas Stars earlier this season, picking up one assist. He nine goals and 28 points in 56 games with the Texas Stars, who play Grand Rapids at home Tuesday.
Official press release after the jump.
