Dallas Stars Prospect Update: Ritchie's Goal Streak Snapped, Faksa On Fire

How have the Dallas Stars prospects done in this past week of hockey? Defending Big D is committed to to giving you weekly updates as their seasons progress.

After Brett Ritchie's goal streak finished at eight games his point streak of scoring at least a point in his last 10 games is also over. I think the fact it lasted so long is a good sign as he has been criticized in the past for his lack of consistency. However this still could be a very long hot streak but hopefully he will carry on being consistent.

Radek Faksa is back in action and really going for it with four assists in his last two games for the Kitchener Rangers. Hopefully with his return to apparent full health he will be able to take the steps forward in his development to become that player Dallas Stars fans hope he will be.

Gemel Smith has had a quieter week with two assists in three games. He is still producing at a good rate and continues to perform well.

Matej Stransky has had a relatively good week, though his Saskatoon Blades were obliterated by the Kelowana Rockets in a 9-2 loss in their third game of the week. In the two games previously, however, he had scored three points (two goals, one assist) and appeared to be getting back to his old ways.

Mike Winther had three assists in three games this week, in the third game he was awarded First Star honours for his two assists in a 4-2 victory for the Prince Albert Raiders.

Troy Vance played three games this week and finished with zero points.

Emil Molin played all three games this week in the Elitserien playing an average of 10 minutes per game and he finished the week with a single assist.

Ludwig Bystrom has been getting around 12 minutes of ice time this week but finished the week pointless. Its good to see he has again found a semi permanent spot for Modo in the Elitserien.

Esa Lindell, despite being loaned to a team in the Finnish Second Division, has played in all four of Jokerit's games this week averaging around 15minutes of ice time per game. His plus/minus isn't pretty (-3) but he has been getting the time on the ice and he has been shooting.

Jyrki Jokipakka played two games this week scoring a single assist in that time. He continues to get a decent amount of minutes, about 23 per game on average so he is getting the ice time needed to continue along his development path.

In the NCAA only Alex Guptill and Scott Winkler have been in action this week. Guptill got a single goal and Scott Winkler got a goal and an assist for Colorado College.

On the injury front Brendan Troock is still out but is apparently expected to return for early December. The injury is not related to his previous issues with his neck and head which cost him a season two years ago. John Klingberg is still not back from his hip surgery in the summer but given the estimates of 4-6 months he should probably return to play in the next two weeks or so.
