2012 NHL Lockout: Jamie Benn Signs In Germany

As negotiations continue between the NHL and NHLPA its been announced that Jamie Benn has signed with the Hamburg Freezers of Germany.

It emerged this morning that a third Dallas Stars player has signed abroad. Jamie Benn signed with the Hamburg Freezers playing in Germany for a single year, importantly with a clause that would allow him to return to the NHL should the lockout end. So far only two other Dallas Stars have signed in Europe, Philip Larsen in Finland and Jaromir Jagr in his native Czech Republic.

On their team website the Hamburg Freezers announced that they had signed Jamie Benn. He is expected to play his first game for them on Friday and he will officially announced to have signed at a press conference in Germany tomorrow afternoon (European Time).

There have been rumours surrounding other Dallas players including Loui Eriksson, who has been linked to his former club Frolunda, and Tom Wandell, who has been linked to multiple clubs within Sweden, Finland and the KHL.

02.10.2012 - The Hamburg Freezers have responded to the NHL lockout and is now secured the services of striker Jamie Benn.
