As you can see here, the Dallas Stars, after honoring Mike Modano in a press conference that could not possibly have been done any better, honored that one day deal and put his name on their roster. A small thing, to be sure, but one that means so much to so many of us who followed Mike's career.
It was announced at the end of the press conference that Mike will be participating in the alumni game scheduled for October 2nd. The only way to get tickets to that, is to be a season ticket holder. Judging from the number of tickets distributed last night, which one can only assume includes the entire season ticket holder base as one of it's subsets, they'd be willing to sell you some.
We think the press conference will be available somewhere online if you missed it. Still working on confirmation of that. There's a chance NHL Network could replay it as well, because they replay everything. Over and over and over again. If you missed it, you'll definitely want to make and effort to see it.
In other news, Jack Campbell and Jamieson Oleksiak were sent back, after their very positive performances last night against Colorado, to join their junior teams who begin their season very soon.
From Stars PR:
The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has assigned goaltender Jack Campbell to the Windsor Spitfires of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), and also has sent defenseman Jamie Oleksiak (the Stars' No. 1 pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft) back to his junior team - the Saginaw Spirit (OHL).
The move trims the Stars training camp roster to 45 players.
Jamie Oleksiak, as a result, is getting busy in a hurry...

Highlights of last nights win over the Avalanche are available on the Stars web site if you look carefully at the front page in the main news slideshow. There's a play button over the picture in the "Dal 4 - COL 2" slot (which of course, is the wrong score...).
