Stargazing: Defying 109 Degree Heat With Ice Hockey Links

Even though we've officially entered into the dead zone known as August (it feels like we've been there for weeks, doesn't it?) there is still some Dallas Stars content being generated out here on the inter-webs and we even have enough for a Stargazing today. Happy August: The worst month of the year...

  • Stephen at Hundred Degree Hockey is taking a look at the expected Texas Stars roster this week and he starts out with the goaltender position. Be sure to check him out later this week to see how the forward and defense groups are shaping up down there for that new coaching staff. [Hundred Degree Hockey]
  • Speaking of that new coaching staff, Dallas has a good piece on Jeff Pyle and his new gig with the Stars down in Cedar Park and how things could progress down there despite all the summer turnover. []
  • ESPN Dallas talked to Stars goaltender Tyler "Besko" Beskorowany at development camp and has a good piece on him here. [ESPN Dallas]
  • Here's a video that's been floating around for a few weeks since Mike Modano's celebrity baseball game. Here he discusses how to live a successful life... [Success]
  • Mac Engel looks at the worst professional season in Texas' sports history and the 1995-1996 Dallas Stars get a mention. [FWST]
  • Fox Sports Southwest has a good piece on Les Jackson's two year extension. [FS]
  • More rumors of Sean Avery, recent champion of gay marriage, and how he made racial slurs about certain players while in Los Angeles. Don't you just miss the guy? [NY Daily News]
  • Chris Chelios and Keith Tkachuk are part of a five man class entering the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame. When #9 enters there in a couple years they should rename the place "Mike Modano and Underlings: U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame." [ESPN Dallas]
  • Get used to seeing Brent Burns. The defenseman signed a five year extension with the San Jose Sharks. []
