The Dallas Stars today announced their roster for the annual Traverse City Prospect tournament that takes place just prior to the start of NHL training camps around the league. Highlighting this years roster is newly drafted defensive giant Jamieson Oleksiak, netminder Jack Campbell and forward Scott Glennie, who will be attending his last prospect tournament.
Forwards: Matt Carter, Oliver D'Aoust, Matt Fraser, Scott Glennie, Cole Grbavac, Tristan King, Nick Layton, Scott Oke, Brett Ritchie, Ondrej Roman, Stephen Schultz, Matej Stransky, and Matt Tassone
Defense: Jace Coyle, Curtis Crombeen, Brenden Dillon, Hubert Labrie, Jamie Oleksiak, Alex Theriau, Troy Vance
Goaltenders: Jack Campbell & Tyler Beskorowany
The name recognition this year is probably more on the defensive side. Between Brenden Dillon, Troy Vance and Jamie Oleksiak you have the makings of what many Stars fans hope will be a big, strong NHL blue line a few years down the road.
Scott Glennie is among the few marquee names on the forward list along with Ondrej Roman and 2011 draft pick Brett Ritchie, who we hope will apply his power forward game effectively and have a good showing. Matt Fraser is also one to keep an eye on along with Matt Tassone.
Before you ask, no, this tournament is not usually televised or broadcast on the web anywhere.
Games will begin on Saturday, September 10th, after you attend the Dallas Stars ice breaker event at the Galleria earlier that morning. It's the date we have circled on our calendars as the first real return to hockey activities.
Just 44 days.
