The Dallas Morning News and ESPN Dallas are both reporting this afternoon that Dallas Star Brandon Segal has been placed on re-entry waivers and will likely join the team tomorrow if he clears. Any other team that claims a player like Segal on re-entry waivers after the trade deadline cannot place him on their NHL roster, so he's expected to clear.
This calls into question the health of the Stars forward group going forward. Adam Burish has already missed two games and it sounds like he will miss at least two more, and now Loui Eriksson is questionable going forward.
Marc Crawford would not rule out his participation in Thursday night's game, but given what we all know about coach speak and how these things go it seems somewhat unlikely that we'd see him tomorrow. Cross your fingers.
Tomas Vincour and the loquacious Steve Ott are said to be "fine", though both needed extra evaluating today in Frisco on a scheduled off-day for the team.
Krys Barch played last night in place of the injured Burish with Brian Sutherby the only forward scratch. If the Stars second leading scorer (and plus/minus leader among forwards at +14) in Eriksson is out, this will give them an extra body (Segal).
Desperation time is not exactly a good time for injuries, is it?
