Dallas Stars Ups & Downs: Week 11

The Dallas Stars returned to home ice last night with a win over the Anaheim Ducks. This week's Ups & Downs looks at the New York Rangers and New York Islanders' wins, that loss against the New Jersey Devils on the second night of a back-to-back, and last night's win over the Pacific division foe struggling Ducks (who now have not won a road game in 12 straight games.)

4gp, 3-1-0, .906 SV%, 1 shutout

Comments: Achieved his first NHL shutout and won 3 games. The one loss from last week was a bit brutal, but has been surprisingly steady in net in general.

Jamie BENN
4gp, 1-3-4, +1

Comments: Starting to find his scoring touch again, and is back to his point-per-game average over the past week.

Comments: Burish will be coming back in the next game for the Stars and should provide some spark when he gets back in the lineup. Feels like forever since he's been on the ice.

Trevor DALEY
4gp, 1-1-2, Even

Comments: Scoring off the blueline is always a welcome addition to the scoresheet.

4gp, 0-1-1, +1

Comments: Recorded one assist in the past 4 games, and dropped the gloves in New York versus the Rangers.

4gp, 0-1-1, Even

Comments: The third line has kind of cooled off over the past week in the scoring department. They've been an extra pesky checking line, however, and are doing well keeping other teams off the board when they're out there.

4gp, 1-4-5, +1

Comments: Not sure Eriksson liked the "slumping" label. He exploded this past week with 5 points in 4 games, and seems to be back to his usual self on the +/-.

4gp, 0-1-1, Even

Comments: Fiddler leads all forwards with shorthanded time on ice per game, and the Stars' penalty kill has been trending up lately, now at 12th in the league in penalty kill percentage.

1gp, 0-0-0, +1

Comments: Looked decent in his first game back from suspension, and did okay paired with Goligoski with Philip Larsen on the shelf currently.

4gp, 1-0-1, +1

Comments: Scored a goal for the first time since coming back from injury. May have finally found his old swagger back, and his defense is much improved over last week.

4gp, 0-0-0, Even

Comments: Had 3 shots on goal in the win over the New York Islanders, only the third time this season he's recorded more than 2 shots in a game.

3gp, 0-0-0, Even

Comments: Is currently out with a lower body injury, and may find himself as the extra defensemen on the roster once everyone is healthy again.

Comments: Lehtonen has been taking shots in practice, which is another step in the right direction for seeing the big Finn back on the ice. Still not expected back until around Christmas.

Brenden MORROW
4 gp, 3-2-5, -2

Comments: The captain seems to go on an absolute tear after coming back from injuries these past two seasons. Leading by example.

4gp, 1-0-1, Even

Comments: Scored his 11th goal of the season at home versus the Anaheim Ducks, tying his career high in goals in just 27 games played so far this season. Nystrom fits the Stars team like a glove it would seem.

Steve OTT
4gp, 0-3-3, -1

Comments: Anyone else think that the hatred opposing teams' fans have for Otter just makes him do that much better? He's absolutely killing it on the faceoff dot, too, with a FO% average of 59% over these past 4 games.

Comments: Struggling to get ice time with Larsen and Fistric playing well ahead of him and everyone on the blueline getting healthy.

2gp, 1-0-1, +1

Comments: Played in two games and scored a goal in one of them this past week. Not sure how much more you can ask for.

Comments: Has not started a game in 5 starts.

4gp, 1-4-5, -2

Comments: The Ribeiro-Morrow chemistry is back and better than ever. Even got a little "pesky" himself against some Ducks last night.

Stephane ROBIDAS
4gp, 0-1-1, -3

Comments: Robidas has been struggling on defense this past week, with a very un-Robidas-esque turnover that led directly to a goal in New Jersey.

Michael RYDER
4gp, 1-2-3, +1

Comments: Such pretty goals from Ryder here lately, which in turn has helped Benn and Eriksson not have to shoulder the goal scoring burden by themselves. Scoring depth on that line has been great this week.

Sheldon SOURAY
4gp, 0-2-2, +1

Comments: Souray didn't like the "slumping" title either, and busted out with two assists in the past two games.

2gp, 0-0-0, Even

Comments: Out 1-2 weeks with an MCL sprain. Ouch.

4gp, 0-0-0, Even

Comments: Recorded no points this week, and finished at 50% or higher faceoff percentage in three of the four games played.
