Steve Ott to Play in World Championship

Dallas Stars hockey will play on, kind of, and we'll follow vicariously through Steve Ott and Jamie Benn as they keep pushing in the World Championship and AHL playoffs respectively.

Mark Messier, General Manager for Team Canada announced a preliminary roster of 5 defensemen and 9 forward, including Ott. They'll fill out the rosters after the first round of the NHL playoffs are done. James Neal was reported by TSN to be a candidate, but is not on the list as of this moment. Maybe if they don't get enough takers from the current playoff teams...

The World Championship doesn't get started until the second week of May in Germany. Mike Heika has the full preliminary roster at the DMN blog.

Meanwhile, Jamie Benn will skate with the Texas Stars tonight as they open their first ever playoff round in Cedar Park. Mark Stepneski is there, as well as Defending Big D's own Stephen Meserve of Hundred Degree Hockey. Reports are that Benn will skate on the wing with Aaaron Gagnon and winger Greg Rallo.

We'll have a brief update at the the conclusion of their game tonight, and you can follow along with a more in depth look at Hundred Degree Hockey.
