Brad Richards Poker Stars Fundraiser - November 30th

Have you ever wanted to play poker in the same general vicinity as Brad Richards? Now you can!!

In what sounds like one hell of a fancy party, Brad Richards will host a "celebrity" poker tournament on November 30th at park Place Rolls-Royce in Dallas, complete with buffet dinner, drinks and silent auction. The event "benefits the Brad Richards Foundation, which helps to provide exceptional experiences and treatment for children and families enduring chronic and life threatening illness, and also supports the advancement of youth and amateur sports."

See the PDF from Brad Richards web site here.

The poker will be tournament style Texas Hold 'Em. The flyer says one can buy a single seat or groups of eight.

$2,000 - Eight seats in the tournament with a celebrity guest at the table. (A Stars player?)
$1,500 - Eight seats in the tournament, no celebrity guest.
$250 - Single seat in the tournament.

$100 - Gets you in the door, no poker.

It doesn't say "no limit" in the release, but I would imagine it is.

From the release:

Brad Richards, now in his fourth season with the Stars and his 10th in the NHL, has a long history of supporting pediatric hospitals and kids with cancer. STARS’ BRAD RICHARDS TO HOST POKER STARS FUNDRAISER

DALLAS (Nov. 10, 2010) – Dallas Stars center Brad Richards will host Brad Richards’ Poker Stars, a celebrity poker fundraiser, for his charitable foundation and its efforts to help fund the expansion of the cancer center at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. The event will be held on Tues., November 30, in the showroom of Park Place Rolls Royce/Bentley/Maserati. The festivities, which will include a Texas Hold ‘Em tournament and silent and live auctions, begin at 6:30 p.m. A buffet dinner and beverages are also provided.

"I am excited to host this event for my foundation," said Richards, who currently leads the Stars in scoring and ranks third in the NHL with 18 points. "I have always tried to be very active in the community wherever I have been, and I am definitely going to do the same here in Dallas, where the fans have been great to me."

The Poker Stars event will raise funds for the Brad Richards Foundation, and specifically, its support of Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.

Children’s Medical Center is ranked among the nation’s top pediatric hospitals and houses one of the largest pediatric hematology-oncology programs in the country.  On any given day, more than 90 children undergo treatment for cancer and blood diseases at Children’s.  As the pediatric population continues to grow, so does the hospital’s need for additional space where excellent care and groundbreaking therapies can be delivered in a nurturing environment for patients and families.

To meet these needs, Children’s Medical Center has undertaken an ambitious $18.7 million renovation and expansion of the hospital’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.  Through the generosity of many individuals and community organizations, Children’s had secured $12 million in contributions.  If the hospital is successful in raising the remaining $4.7 million by December 31, 1010, The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation will graciously provide the final $2 million needed to complete funding for the entire project.

To date, Children’s has raised almost $3.9 million of the $4.7 million with approximately $800,000 still needed.  The net proceeds from Brad Richards’ Poker Stars will go toward this effort and the Brad Richards Foundation’s continued support of children battling cancer.

"We are excited to have The Brad Richards Foundation as a partner in this endeavor and truly appreciate Brad’s willingness to assist Children’s in raising funds that will help secure the Mabee matching gift." Pete Kline, President, Children’s Medical Center Foundation.
