Not much to say about this one. The Stars struck first with a power play goal by Brenden Morrow in the first period, but it was all Colorado after that. Outshot 29-18, the Stars were unable to muster much of an attack during even strength play and could not sustain any pressure they did get.
Credit Avalanche goaltender Craig Anderson with a very solid effort in his first game in net for his new team, as he allowed minimal second chances and stymied the Stars when called upon.
Quick observations (note: I was only able to listen to the game)
- The Stars lost the puck way too much, allowing odd-man rushes to develop all night long.
- Fabian Brunnstrom was invisible until the last five minutes of the game.
- Ivan Vishnevskiy got some good shots on goal, but had trouble holding the puck at the point.
- Matt Climie was yet again solid in net, making several big saves in the third period.
Next up, the Stars face the St. Louis Blues on the road on Saturday night at 7:00p CDT.
