It was reported earlier today that the Boston Bruins had offered Phil Kessel and 25th overall pick to Toronto in exchange for defenseman Tomas Kaberle.
Now it's being reported that the Dallas Stars have offered Matt Niskanen and the 8th overall pick to Toronto for Kaberle.
[Note] This rumor comes from the Bruins Blog on the Boston Globe website. I have yet to be able to substantiate it anywhere else.
Kaberle has two years remaining on his contract at $4.25 million per year.
Honestly, this doesn't make any sense to me and I doubt that the rumor is correct. We've already seen several amendments to rumors this morning. I'd expect that if an offer was made it would include Niskanen and a pick other than the #8, most likely the Stars' 2nd rounder.
