AKA, Alex Ovechkin is a sick man. And Crosby's not bad, either.
BOTH players had hat tricks last night. So what was the difference last night?
G2: Capitals 4, Penguins 3 (WAS leads 2-0)
Well, this man.
While Crosby and Ovechkin were busy canceling out each other's hat tricks, David Steckel's second period goal proved to be the difference in a 4-3 Caps win to give them a 2-0 lead.
OK, technically, Ovi's sick wrister that gave Washington a 4-2 lead and his first playoff hat trick was the difference maker. I just wanted to throw a little love Steckel's way.
Anyway, the double hat tricks make for great entertainment. But to me, the biggest reason the Caps won this game is because of their young goaltender, Simeon Varlamov, who stopped 33 shots in the game.
He's outplayed Marc-Andre Fleury in these first two games. So needles to say, I think Fleury has to bounce back in Game 3 to give the Pens a chance to get back into this series.
Game 3 is Wednesday night.
