Dallas Stars morning news

Not a lot of news out there this morning. The Stars now sit in 11th place, three points back of Edmonton in the eighth spot. Both Anaheim and Edmonton won last night and the Stars slipped even further behind the pack. It's not over yet folks, but chances are looking slim.

I still have hope.

The Dallas Stars are hoping that some rest and two days off between games gives the team a chance to recharge. The players are hurt, exhausted and it has to be devastating to give everything you have and still come up empty. Mike Modano is probable for the game, but Brian Sutherby and Steve Begin are being listed as doubtful.

Brad Richards will try to play and had this to say about his attempt to return:

"We have good players, and you don't want to come in unless you know you can help the team," he said. "You're not going to wait until you're 100 percent, because that's not going to happen, but you have to be confident enough in your ability that you won't come in and hurt the team."

Jamie Benn was named to the WHL All-Stars Team (first team). He finished the season fifth in the league in goals and fifteenth in scoring.

Mike Heika has some notes on other Stars prospects in the Juniors, notably Colton Scevior who has 77 points (27G-50A) in 66 games for Lethbridge.

Stu Barnes is working at making the transition from player to coach.

Tim Cowlishaw is not a fan of three-point games.
