2/7 Stars Watching Party at Hully and Mo's
This is a bit last minute, but Mike Modano just posted this watching party at Hully and Mo's for tonight's game against the Coyotes. If you're in Dallas, and not going to the game at the AAC, you should make an appearance!
I should also add that this is not an official Dallas Stars watching party, so don't expect free goodies or the ice girls. This is something that Modano is throwing together on his own.
The title of this fanshot links to Modano's FB profile. Here's Hully & Mo's website, to get the necessary directions if you need them.
Stars Place Benn On IR, Call Up Matt Fraser
The Dallas Stars announced late Sunday afternoon that forward Jamie Benn was being placed on IR retroactive to Jan. 14. Benn has missed the last four games after having his appendix removed.
To fill his roster spot, the Stars called up Matt Fraser from the Texas Stars. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound forward ranks second on the Texas Stars in scoring with 35 points (21g, 14a). He leads the club with 21 goals and is tied for third overall in the AHL.
This likely means Benn will not return for Tuesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks, which had been considered an outside possibility. His participation in the 2012 NHL All-Star game has not yet been determined.
Ice Dogs
Purely to kill time before Stars v Wild tonight i'm gonna listen to the Niagara Ice Dogs play, they have both our 1st round (Oleksiak) and 2nd round (Ritchie) picks from '11 on their roster. Worth a listen
Klingberg goes back to Sweden.
There was an article in site of Jokerit Helsinki. I won't publish it since it's in Finnish. But it goes like this:
Klingberg goes back to Sweden, to Elitserien. Jokerit wanted him to stay next year, he wanted back to Sweden, so it goes down like this.
His new team will be announced later.
Good luck to him.
Update: His new team is Skellefteå AIK.
Stars trade Roman for Esposito
The Dallas Stars made a move in their minor-league system late Friday afternoon when they sent prospect left wing Ondrej Roman to the Florida Panthers in exchange for center Angelo Esposito.
Both players were selected in the 2007 draft - Roman in the 5th round by the Stars and Esposito with the 20th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Neither player will have to move far. Esposito is currently with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage, where he has two goals, three assists and and eight penalty minutes in 16 games. He also spent three games in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones this season. Roman has spent most of the season with the Texas Stars, where he has one goal and four assists.

Esposito is a center, but I don't know much about him. He was a first-round pick in '07. Does he have potential at the NHL level or is he an AHLer?
Thoughts?

I just love watching this highlight over and over again, don't you?
NHL Realignment Rescue
Knowing full well the (not so) underhanded politicking that the NHL and NHLPA are doing with this whole realignment spat, my latest entry addresses as many of the issues as possible and actually makes sense.
If only the millionaires vs. billionaires would show us the fans a little respect and start off the CBA negotiations with a show of good faith and pick (and stick with) a plan.
NHLPA Does Not Approve Realignment
The Dallas Stars were hopeful their days in the Pacific Division would be over after this season.
This appears to not be the case anymore after the NHLPA did not approve the league's realignment plan by the NHL's deadline. The league will operate under the current divisions and playoff format for the 2012-13 season.
Plenty more on this later, but I can guarantee you the Stars will not be pleased with this development.
