Please Help us Welcome Erin B. (kritter) to the DBD Family

14

We are very pleased today to be able to welcome Erin B (you may know her better as kritter) to the DBD family of contributors. Brandon and I were completely overwhelmed by the response we received in reaching out to the community. Nearly 200 applicants made their interest known and many, many discussions were had about well respected, established community members before finalists were chosen and a small tryout was held, ultimately leading us to Erin. We plan to increase our content both in quality and quantity this season as we continue to make Defending Big D the first, best place for Dallas Stars discussion on the web, and Erin's addition is one step of many in that quest. Of course the most important contributors on this site are and will always be those who participate in the comments. Welcome, Erin.

The Stargazing Position Has Been Filled - Announcement Soon We are still receiving applications for the "links post" position that we advertised for a few days ago. Unfortunately, the position has been filled and we will be announcing the newest addition to the DBD team very soon. I want to say that I was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of responses we had. Well over 150 people sent an email inquiring for the position and I never would have thought there were so many eager bloggers out there. I'm going to have more on this later, but one of the key factors we used in deciding who would get this job was community involvement. Many, many of you expressed your love for writing and for the Stars -- yet only the some people provide quality FanPosts on a regular basis. The FanPost section is an incredible resource for you -- the readers -- to have a voice as well. It's not just about providing links, it's about writing analysis of your own and providing your own detailed take on the Dallas Stars. We are always open to the possibility of adding more writers in the future but to do so, we need to see what you can do first. Thanks, once again, to everyone who responded.

When will this awful series of pointless deaths cease? When will the NHL actually try to help these people? I don't know but this tragedy must end. He only just retired too...

Video: Dallas Stars' Brenden Morrow and Stephane Robidas train area youth. This is a fun video done by the Dallas Morning News of Robi and Morrow having a good time with some kids while putting them through some drills. Dallas/Fort Worth could never have enough of this kind of thing.

This was written a while ago, but I just found it the other day and thought you all might enjoy! Even some of our boys get some love in the comments section, where there are just as many great stories as in the article! Enjoy!

Stars Players Start Skating in Frisco...

ESPN Dallas reports several Dallas Stars players were in Frisco today to begin preparing for training camp, which is now little more than three weeks away. Mark says that Brenden Morrow, Mike Ribeiro, Kari Lehtonen, Jamie Benn, Stephane Robidas, Andrew Raycroft, Jack Campbell and Scott Glennie were on the scene today. Joe Nieuwendyk joined them as well, evidently. He has some video at his ESPN Dallas blog. Time to start getting excited, yes?

Vancouver could have used him in the Finals. No matter how you felt about the player, it's a shame.
