I'm sure we've all fantasized about the idea of aquiring a top defenseman, but it's beginning to look like there's a good chance of that happening heading into next season. Or, i should say, there's a better chance of that happening this offseason than there has been in the past few years.
Now i'm perfectly aware that Myers is not a true number one; at least not at the moment. However, we all know he has the potential to be that number one. I also get the feeling Nill would rather buy a little lower than he might for a sure thing if he feels the potential is there, especially considering how young the kid is. Tons of upside. Plus, getting a 24 year old Tyler Myers doesn't sound like much of a risk at all. He hasn't exactly turned heads lately, but he's put up solid points in this league not that long ago. A change of scenery might be just what he needs. Actually, i suppose that could be said of anyone playing for Buffalo. Hiyooooo.
Myers won't come cheap. We'd likely have to throw some young assets their way, along with a few picks.. (Daley's NTC might come into play if a team is interested) but if i'm Nill, i'm at least picking up the phone to find out what it would take. Oh and by the way, he's from Houston. I bet it gets cold up there in Buffalo, even for a big guy. He really should come back to Texas. After all, his mother misses him. And his little weiner dog, Oscar. Poor little Oscar... Do the right thing Jim. For the puppy.
